1. Could you introduce yourself and tell us about you? Your current/recent jobs and employers? Previous companies and jobs?
Currently working as a Network Engineer overseeing APAC team focused on implementation and engineering of IP transmission in Singapore. His daily task includes the implementation of all the equipment within Singapore. Besides implementation, installation, and commission for the IP and firewalls his team also works on the forecast of the DWDM network and expansion. He has a new project coming up using the Ciena equipments.
2. What skill(s) / experience would you self-describe as strongest and specialist in?
He is a Huawei Certified Datacom Associate (HCDA-HNTD). He specializes in transmission networks such as DWDM, OTN, and SDH, and rates himself 4.5 out of 5 in this area. Has been working on a terrestrial network in Southeast Asia, including a DWDM network from Myanmar to Thailand, Thailand to Malaysia, and Singapore, as well as their own submarine network, SIGMAR. He also supports Huawei SDH/DWDM/OTN Transmission OSN 3500/OSN 7500, DWDM OSN 6800/OSN 8800/ OSN9800 onsite and remotely. He did site surveys, onsite installation, commissioning, maintenance, and UAT testing with BERT, RFC2544, OTDR, Power Meter, and Fibre Microscope, among other things.
He has hands-on experience with the DWDM network, having constructed their equipment in Singtel from the scratch, discussing solutions and implementation, and he is in charge of data center installation, as well as network design, provisioning, and testing.
When significant events occur, he provides L3 support because he is very familiar with the troubleshooting and support procedures. He noted that while he has fairly basic IP routing skills, he is well-versed in DWDM optical networks. He has extensive experience installing, commissioning, and configuring Juniper switches EX4600, 4300, and Huawei S5720.
