1. Could you introduce yourself and tell us about you? Your current / recent jobs and employers? Previous companies and jobs?
Her background is within linguistics and translation in the information system sector. She started her career with XXXX as a Technical Writer where they translated and created documented for all kinds of technology, mostly with computer system for banks and airlines. After that, she moved to XXXX as an Editor/Custom Publishing Manager where she wrote features, magazines, and all kinds of PC products; she also did hands-on review for magazines in the IT world. After some time, she was promoted as a Customer Publishing Manager where she worked with major IT players like HP, Microsoft, and others for their newsletter, marketing materials, and magazines. Later on, she joined more publishing and printing companies such as XXXX, XXXX, and was also a freelance writer/translator for about 2 years during that time. She also was a Project & Event Manager for XXXX where she wrote, edited, and translated marketing literature for emails, leaflets, and other promotional media. After that, she was a Corporate Communications Manager for XXXX where she worked as the editorial chief for all corporate media including corporate brochures, company announcements, presentations, and marketing collaterals, etc. in both English and Chinese. For the last 10+ years, she has been working as a Freelance Translator, Editor, and Teacher; her most recent project was a translation/editing job for press releases, executive speeches, web blogs, and meeting minutes. Also has worked for the HK Government for some official documents and materials.
2. What skill(s) / experience would you self-describe as strongest or specialist in?
Strongest skill would be combining language and her good grasp of technology, IT, and related stuff. She’s also good with coordination, working with different teams, and bridging them to ensure a good quality output. She’s also knowledgeable with a bunch of tools such as Adobe, Visual Basic, and others.
3. Do you have the lists of key criteria’s according to the clients’ requirements?
She has technical writing experience during the earlier years of her career and then did lots of publications and articles after that. With that being said, she’s still okay to go back to technical writing and would be fine working with machines and consumer products; has experience doing user guides, installation guides, and similar materials. She’s knowledgeable with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and is also well-versed with XML documentation since her study is focused on hypertext languages.
