1. Could you introduce yourself and tell us about you? Your current / recent jobs and employers? Previous companies and jobs?
He is currently working with XXXX as a Business Development Officer, although majority of his work has something to do with documentation, tender writing, proposals, and such. This title is given to him since he frequently go out and meet clients, so he’s not actually a sales person but speaks to their client most of the time and provide the tender for them. He works in the IT department for a container terminal operating system, he works on documenting the solution, review and act as SME to guide other technical writers in other regions on what type of content is acceptable. On top of that, a lot of his work is understanding the rules behind containerization, apply it to documentation, testing of quality, and review whether their documentations are correct and accurate. They also have other concepts and systems such as billing management systems, IoT devices documentation, location detection systems, and such. Before this, he was a Technical Editor for XXXX as a Technical Editor, their main focus there was on CRM systems such as Salesforce, RPA (automation), and low-code platform systems, where he was mainly writing proposals for RFPs, tenders mostly for government and education-related jobs, and user guides for the solution.
2. What skill(s) / experience would you self-describe as strongest or specialist in?
Strongest skill would be grasping concepts quickly; for example, his current niche is within container terminals, and he was able to understand the industry quickly, get as much information as possible to be able to create documentations, and being proactive to learn more about the things he work on, that would be his strength as a technical writer.
3. Do you have the lists of key criteria’s according to the clients’ requirements?
He has more than 4-5 years of experience in technical writing/editing and has mostly worked on user guides, manuals, release notes, SOPs, and also boosting their online help and e-learning contents. He is familiar with the standards, compliance, and would be okay working on the hardware side of things as well. He has knowledge with Adobe Illustrator but most of his experiences is within Photoshop for picture purposes, Microsoft Office (Word), Madcap Flare for their management system, Articulate for e-learning purposes, and Adobe Express; also experienced with XML documentation.
