Interview Assessment Notes
|
1. Could you introduce yourself and tell us about you? Your current / recent jobs and employers? Previous companies and jobs?
He has over 3 years of technical writing experience and is currently working with XXXX where he’s responsible for managing over 20 product documentation including API documentations, quick start features, function documentations, and such for real-time audio & video products, instant messaging, and AI agents as well. He also has built up their Chinese to English terminology glossary in the company to ensure they can develop same ideas and concepts in both Chinese and English documentation. On top of that, he has contributed to some UI localization for the console that their company has developed for their users. On a daily basis in this work, he collects data from the product managers, discuss the product and documentation structure with them, work with developers as well and provide draft of the documentation; if the product is reviewed successfully, that’s the only time he will release the product documentation. Currently, he is working for a cloud service company where they mainly provide SDKs containing voice and video abilities for integration with their applications. Before this, he did two technical documentation internships in Shanghai.
2. What skill(s) / experience would you self-describe as strongest or specialist in?
Strongest skill would be being detail-oriented; he always remember the product’s features that he’s responsible for and that makes his work efficient since he can remember all of them when reviewing and working with some docs. He also always consider both Chinese and English readers when doing documentations and translations so to not confuse them. He’s always on top of his goals and delivers his projects and documentations on time. Has great communication skills with their product managers, developers, and other stakeholders since he frequently collaborates with them to be able to complete their documentations.
3. Do you have the lists of key criteria’s according to the clients’ requirements?
He has more than 3 years of experience in technical writing and few internships he attended in Shanghai as well. His focus is more on the software side of things such as SDKs, API, and other materials including quick start features, user guides, manuals, and others that are related to software developers. Although he had one experience working for a hardware product with Boston Scientific which is a documentation for a medical device explaining every button and function of it; he will be comfortable working with hardware and consumer products as well in the future. In terms of the tools, he has basic knowledge of Adobe tools but hasn’t used it professionally in current company but has great hands-on skills with DITA and XML documentation in general. Also has worked on diagrams, flowcharts, and similar illustrations in his current role so he will be okay doing that as well for his next jobs.
